CO-HIVE: CREATOR TRAINING
10 WEEK PROGRAM
Week 1: Who Are We? What Do We Want to Make?
We begin by getting to know each other. What does each person enjoy? What are they curious about? This week is focused on understanding each participant’s voice, goals, and creative interests. From there, we’ll begin developing shared ideas and themes for projects we’ll make together across the program.
Week 2: Scriptwriting & Format Concepts
This week is about storytelling. We’ll break down what makes a reel engaging - whether funny, emotional, surprising, or stylish - explore the structure of different formats. Participants will write short scripts or outlines and begin shaping how their story will unfold on screen.
Week 3: Cinematography with Your Phone
Participants will learn to see through the lens, and we start shooting. This week focuses on how to use a phone to create visually strong content - covering framing, light, movement, shot types, and camera angles. We’ll also explore ways to make things look professional with minimal gear.
Week 4: Excursion to AIT
We take a creative field trip to the Academy of Interactive Technology. The group will explore professional-grade studios, sound booths, green screens, and animation labs. It’s a chance to imagine bigger and see what’s possible in the creative world.
Week 5: Editing Foundations (Part 1)
Participants are introduced to DaVinci Resolve, learning how to set up projects, import footage, make basic edits, and structure a sequence. The focus will be on building confidence with the timeline, cutting clips, and syncing visuals to sound.
Week 6: Editing Foundations (Part 2)
We continue editing skills, diving into transitions, speed changes, titles, layering video, and basic colour correction. By the end of this week, each participant will have a short scene or sequence in progress that reflects their original idea.
Week 7: AI Tools for Creators (Part 1)
We introduce AI as a creative partner. This week covers simple, accessible tools that help with idea generation, scriptwriting support, voiceovers, and visual inspiration. Participants will experiment with tools like LUMA, ChatGPT, image generators, and voice models to enhance their projects.
Week 8: AI Tools for Creators (Part 2)
We go deeper with AI, showing how to use it in editing workflows, sound enhancement, music generation, and creating captions. This week also focuses on ethics, consent, and understanding when and how to use AI responsibly in creative projects.
Week 9: Sound Design, Voice & Music
Participants will create emotional depth with audio. This week combines voice recording, ambient sound, and music-building. We’ll explore how sound affects mood, how to record clean audio, and how to use royalty-free or AI-generated music to enhance the message.
Week 10: Publishing & Showcase
We wrap up with practical publishing skills—how to export, post, and promote content. Participants will learn to write engaging captions, choose hashtags, and make content accessible. The course ends with a screening event where each participant presents their finished work to the group and guests.
