Hi to all involved with John Maus Australian Tour- it's Luke Burton from Sydney based group The Lost Futures.

We are a hybrid music band and video art project taking aim at the crush of modernity and the absurdity of late stage capitalism.

We are just checking in to see the possibility of providing an opening slot for John's show in Sydney on the 30th April - or indeed any of the other dates.

Our credentials, and a few specific connections to John:

  • This year we opened for 'Arseless Chaps' the new group by TISM frontman Damian Cowell and comedy legend Tony Martin to a packed Crowbar and tip of the hat from DC and TM - who we will be working with further, booked through DRW Entertainment.

  • We have done 50+ shows around Australia, including for major festivals Vivid Sydney and Dark Mofo Hobart

  • We have worked directly with the alt comedy group Million Dollar Extreme that John was on one episode for, and have a continued working relation with the group. BicFlame who has worked with MDE, is one of the primary VFX designers for The Lost Futures - working on active campaigns with us.

  • In Sydney, a strong contingent of MDE fans know that Lost Futures works with Sam, Nick and Charls, so an opening slot would be a natural fit to those fans.

  • We are close with KingCon2k11 who worked on Ariel Pink's recent album 'Ariel's Not Abducted'.

  • Finally, John will recognize the origins of our name, and how it relates to theorist Mark Fisher. We have also read his PHD end to end, and this was a massive influence on our philosophy.

Here's one of our clips, 'The New Normal' - provides an example of our interpretation of the hysterical body ;)

If you are interested in chatting would love to have a talk and see what's possible.

We can perform as a group, or I can perform solo. We also provide all our own projectors and visual apparatus, which John is free to use if he wishes to incorporate his visuals into his show. Happy to run that for him as well. (We did that with our show with Arseless Chaps)

Thanks for your time today - would be a total dream to be able to do this!
